” AFROCHELLA ” is a cultural Festival designed to elevate and highlights the thriving millennial talent from and beyond Africa. African creativities, music artists and fashion enthusiasts are highlighted during the festival.

The rising appeal of African art,cuisine,Afro-beats music and business acemen to patrons outside of Africa has kept this festival alive since it’s inception.

And also the UNESCO Heritage site where in the fourteenth century Elmina Castle and sixteenth-century Cape Coast castle became one of the most important stops of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Elmina Castle is the home of the infamous “Door of No Return”.

Along the coast, in the heart of voodoo country, we visit practitioners, watch trance-dances and learn about the great influence voodoo spirits still have on people.

Day 1, ACCRA | AFRICAN METROPOLIS

You are met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra the capital city of Ghana, and transferred to Movenpick Ambassador Hotel. A 5 Star right in the middle of the City of Accra.

 

After a Restful hours we join ” THE AFRO NATION BEACH PARTY ” . the biggest Beach party right here in Accra at Laboma Beach for this historic event. Day 3, ACCRA | FREE DAY | BEACH DAY 

Bojo Beach is the only beach where you experience the rich “Island” experience on a sandbank with one side joining the sea at some distant point, thus making a long strip island. fresh water and the other side being salty. This beach is sandwich between a lagoon and the seashores.

And in the evening we will be at the National Theatre of Ghana where during the Christmas seasons there will be Drama, Music, Art and Culture, Orchestra programs which is available to experience.

Day 4,  ACCRA | ACCRA CITY TOUR | KWAME NKRUMAH MAUSOLEUM | ARTS AND CRAFT CENTRE | THE MARKOLA OPEN MARKET

Accra, the capital of Ghana, is an interesting city that, although is quickly evolving, has kept its own identity, reflected in both modern and old areas where traditional activities continue to hold sway.

A visit to a national park erected in memory of Osagyefo (the Messiah) Doctor Kwame Nkrumah,

Ghana’s first president and one of its founding fathers. Built on a former British polo field, it was the point where Nkrumah declared independence in 1957. The park consists of five acres of land and holds a museum tracing Nkrumah’s life. There are many personal items on display, but the centerpiece is the mausoleum, Nkrumah and his wife’s final resting place.

A visit to William Edward Burghardt Du Bois

Who was an African-American civil rights activist who became a citizen of Ghana in the 1960’s. He was known as the ‘Father of Pan-Africanism’. The center, where he and his wife once lived, and where they are now buried, houses his personal library, a small museum with a handful of personal effects such as his graduation robes. The couple’s mausoleum is surrounded by Asante stools, a seminar room, a restaurant, a gallery, an amphitheater and a research center for Pan-African history and culture.

The Arts Center where you will be warmly welcomed by African drums. A visit to Ghana’s oldest open market where there is a variety of products. Explore through the wonderful African open markets where you will see buyers bargaining. The Abgogloshie Yam Tubers markets, The Kokomba Markets where you could locate all the slums of Ghana. A walk through the slums areas of the capital is worthy to experience.

* Night Life

The Bloom bar is a very classy place and quite an open space with a rooftop sitting area, they got good music and nice restaurant services. Their cocktail drinks best. It’s a fun place to meet different people but mostly gets a little crowded because people love to come over.

Day 5 , HISTORIC SLAVE TRADE CASTLES | CAPE COAST CASTLE | ELIMINA CASTLE | KAKUM NATIONAL PARK | ASSIN MANSO SLAVE RIVER

In the morning, a visit to the Elmina Castle, the oldest European building in Africa, erected by the Portuguese in the XV century. At different times the castle has been used as a warehouse to trade gold, ivory and, eventually, slaves. The castle we visit today is the result of successive extension works and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Outside the castle, a wonderful fishing village with lots of large colorful fishing boats – every day these canoes are guided by skilled fishermen across strong ocean waves and currents, “fighting” to earn a living. The alleys in the old town have a lively atmosphere, going back to a time when Elmina was a wild colonial town.

* KAKUM NATIONAL PARK

A visit to the Kakum National Park, Ghana’s most famous parks. Take a brief walking tour on the forest floor where you will learn how our ancestors lived in the forest. See birds, butterflies, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the forests over 40 species of mammals including monkeys and the reclusive forest elephant. Proceed to the canopy walk. Kakum is home to Africa’s only aerial walkway through the tree canopy, a 1000 foot long and seven-bridge walkway with viewing platforms that reach heights of over 150 feet above the ground.

Day 6 , ACCRA-TAMALE | MOLE NATIONAL PARK | ZAINA LODGE | MORNING SAFARI | EVENING SAFARI

At the New Year, we depart from Accra to the domestic airport at Kotoka International Airport for your domestic flight to Tamale Airport. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to Zaina Lodge at the Mole National Park. At Zaina Lodge, a stunning location situated on the escarpment overlooking the watering holes with a pleasant pool. The lodge offers a great base to explore the park. Do the evening Safari.

After a restful night, you will wake up in the African jungle for your morning foot safari, accompanied by your guide in the park with the possibility of viewing many different animals. After the morning foot safari, you return back to base. You will depart 15kms on a dirt road from Zaina Lodge to Mognori Eco Village. In the late afternoon accompanied by your guide, you will take your last game drive.

 

* Mognori Eco Village

Sitting right on the edge of Mole National Park (about 10km east of the park’s visitor center), the village of Mognori has become a flourishing ecotourism venture. Villagers here offer various activities: canoe safaris on the river, where you’ll see monkeys, birds, and crocodiles; village tours, on which you’ll learn about shea butter production and traditional medicine; and drumming and dancing performances.

Day 7 & 8, KUMASI | ASHANTI KINGDOM | TRADITIONAL NAMING CEREMONY

Upon arrival in Kumasi, the historical and spiritual capital of the old Ashanti Kingdom. The Ashanti people were one of the most powerful nations in Africa until the end of the XIX century when the British annexed Ashanti Country to their Gold Coast colony. The tribute paid today to the Asantehene (=King)

 

is the best evidence of their past splendor and strength. With nearly one million inhabitants, Kumasi is a sprawling city with a fantastic central market, one of the biggest in Africa. Every type of Ashanti craft (leather goods, pottery, Kente cloth) is found here, along with just about every kind of tropical fruit and vegetable.

Naming Ceremony in (Akan). The Akan people have a unique way of performing a naming ceremony which is known in Akan or Asante Twi as ‘Din to’. this morning with the naming rites will be performed at the Ashanti Kingdom Palace for our Brothers and new Ashanti name shall be given after initiation.
Mostly names which are given after initiation are day born names and attached with great ancestral names who lived a good life.

Day 9, ACCRA | BEACH MASSAGE | BEACH DAY

A Time to rest at the Labadi beach. The Labadi beach offers you one of the best beaches in the sub-region. For the Belly and for the experience. Enjoy yourself by soaking in the sun at this beauty on the beach in Accra. Experience!

Day 10, TOGO | LOME

A 3-hour drive from the capital of Ghana Accra to the Ghana-Togo Boarder. You will be assisted through the Ghana-Togo Immigration to begin our exploration of Lome Togo.

Lome, the vibrant capital of Togo, is the only African city having been colonized by Germans, British and French. It is also one of the few capitals in the world to be on the border with another nation. These elements have led to the development of a special identity reflected in the life style of its inhabitants and in the architecture of the town. Lome is a cross point for people, trade and cultures, a cosmopolitan city in small size.

Day 11, KPALIME | TOGO

Depart Kpalime down south to the coastal and capital city, Lome. Take a city tour of Lome. Visit the fishing harbour, the National Museum, the independence square and the ever-colorful Grand Marche where you can find some very colorful African fabrics. Also, visit the Akodessewa market (Voodoo market) where everything from traditional charms and medicines to the most bizarre items including snake potions is sold. Lome is also a shopper’s paradise for high-quality tribal masks and crafts.

Day 12, ABOMEY | BENIN

After breakfast depart Sokode and cross a second border into Benin and to Abomey. Arrive and check in at your hotel. After lunch takes

a tour of Abomey, capital of the former Dahomey Empire. This empire which lasted 300 years, rivals that of the Ashanti both of which established their power by constantly being at war and capturing prisoners for the Slave Trade. Visit one of the 12 magnificent palaces built by the Dahomey Kings which is now a Slave Trade Museum. We will visit the war room, the common grave of the 42 wives of King Glele and the throne room.

Day 13, ABOMEY | ALLADA | QUIDAH

 

Today we drive to Allada and witness the King of Allada and his people celebrate their own mini Voodoo festival at the royal palace. This is a curtain raiser to the main Voodoo festival in Ouidah. Witness costumed Zangbetos also known as ‘Guardians of the Night’ dance at the festival grounds. This ceremony is significant because the King of Allada is the head of all traditional kings in Benin and also Voodoo religion was established in the 13th century in Benin by Adjahounto, the founder of Allada, a forefather of Toussaint Louverture (father of Haiti.) Continue to Ouidah in the afternoon.

Day 14, QUIDAH | BENIN | VOODOO FESTIVAL DAY

 

Today the followers of various voodoo cults will gather at the “Port of No Return”, a memorial dedicated to those who left the shores of Benin through slavery to celebrate the Voodoo Festival. In 1996, the government of Benin declared voodoo which is practiced by 60% of the population the official religion and on every January 10, there is a big festival to celebrate the religion. Experience the mysteries of Voodoo as the followers of Kokou from various temples perform their own rites and rituals. At this ceremony, we will witness the dancers go into deep trances while possessed by ancestral sprits. In the late afternoon visit Kpasse Forest where a 14th century chief is said to have hidden himself from his enemies by transforming himself into a tree. Also visit the Python Temple, where Ouidah’s ancient snake cult is still very much in practice. Snakes are still an important feature of many voodoo rituals, believed to be able to bring vitality and protection.
